Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Astrophysics group at the University of Exeter. This post is available from 01 May 2014 for 2 years (a later start date - up to 01 November 2014 - can be negotiated). The project will involve working with Dr Clare Dobbs on numerical studies of the interstellar medium and star formation in galaxies, and is funded by the ERC starting grant project LOCALSTAR. The position includes funds for computer equipment and travel to support the appointee in their delivery of the role. The salary will be in the range £25,014 up to £28,133 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD by commencement of the position, and should preferably have experience in hydrodynamical or magnetohydrodynamical simulations of galaxies or molecular clouds.

The University of Exeter Astrophysics group has a strong emphasis on star formation, with both theorists and observers working on star formation and molecular clouds. The University has a supercomputer which is available for members of the astrophysics group, and Exeter is part of the DiRAC high performance computing consortium in the UK.
