The Space Science Institute (SSI) invites inquiries and applications for the position of Executive Director. Qualified candidates will have a strong reputation within a scientific field relevant to the institute (e.g., planetary science, astrophysics, space physics, or Earth science) and will possess excellent leadership, managerial, interpersonal, and administrative skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and augmenting the scientific excellence and vitality of the institute, for implementing long-term strategies and organizational goals, for developing and overseeing effective management and financial practices, and for cultivating good relationships with the general public, scientific and educational professionals, and potential funding agents. The Executive Director will be expected to maintain his/her own independent research program to help support a dedicated portion (ideally 25-50%) of time/salary. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and approximately ten years of experience in project management.
