Research Associate in Theoretical Astrophysics: Planets, Stars and Disks Cornell University Space Sciences Building Ithaca, NY 14853
Applications are invited for a research associate position at Cornell University. We are interested in candidates with prior experience in theoretical/computational astrophysics, with connection to planets (both solar system planets and exo-planets), stars or proto-planetary disks. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Dong Lai on various theoretical astrophysics problems, focusing on astrophysical dynamics (particle, hydro and MHD) as applied to exoplanets, stars and disks. He/she will also be able to benefit from interactions with other Cornell theoretical astrophysicists (senior members include R. Bean, D. Chernoff, E. Flanagan, R. Lovelace, S. Teukolsky and I. Wasserman) and planetary scientists (J. Burns, J. Lunine, P. Nicholson, etc). The group website is http://astro.cornell.edu/~dong/research.html.
The position is for one year, renewable to up to a total of 3 years contingent on funding and performance. The nominal starting date is September 1, 2014.
