Postdoctoral Research Associate in Star Formation and Galaxy Evolution

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Haverford College invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to conduct research on topics related to star formation and/or galaxy evolution in collaboration with Professor Desika Narayanan.  Applications from both theorists and observers are welcome. 

The position is nominally for 1 year+1year+1year -meaning it is available for three years, pending funding availability and mutual agreement after every year.   A Ph.D in Astronomy, Physics or a related field is required prior to the start date.  The start date is flexible, and available immediately.  A competitive salary and funds for research/travel will be provided.  Haverford College maintains a relatively large computer cluster, with adequate computing time available.

Haverford College (, located 12 miles northwest of Philadelphia, is a small liberal arts college with a strong record of faculty and student research.  Its small astronomy program has trained a disproportionate number of professional astronomers, and emphasizes research both in and out of the classroom. The successful candidate is not required to teach, though is welcome to if they are interested in it.  Other astronomers in the department include  Drs. Beth Willman, Steve Boughn, Bruce Partridge, John Bochanski and Jonathan Hargis.  Beyond this, Haverford College is a member of the Keck Northeast Astronomy Consortium.  Nearby institutions include Penn, Drexel, and Princeton.
