The Department of Physics at Purdue University invites applications for a postdoctoral position to work in the area of galaxy formation and evolution. A susccessful candidate is expected to work closely with Dr. Kyoung-Soo Lee on a broad range of topics including galaxy clustering, spectroscopic and population properties of field and proto-cluster galaxies at high redshift, utilizing the Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared Deep Extragalactic Survey (CANDELS) data as well as data from other ongoing ground-based surveys. Candidates who have experience in theoretical studies (analytical and/or numerical) of galaxy formation are also highly encouraged to apply.
A successful candidate will be encouraged to carry out her/his own independent research programs. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in physics or astrophysics or an equivalent degree by the start date (preferably, Fall 2014). An earlier start date is also acceptable. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional research funds will be provided for travel and other research expenses. The position will initially be for two years and may be extended up to three years, depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
