A two-year position as Post-Doctoral Researcher is available at the Institute for Solar Physics of Stockholm University.
The Institute for Solar Physics is part of the Astronomy department of Stockholm University and is presently expanding by hiring scientific staff - both observationally and theoretically oriented - as well as technical staff. The Institute operates the Swedish 1-m Solar Telescope (SST) on La Palma, which is one of the largest solar telescopes in the world. The group has strong collaborations with other world-leading research groups in solar physics. Observing campaigns regularly combine data from the SST and space missions such as the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) and the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO).
The postdoctoral researcher is expected to work on the physics of the solar chromosphere and transition region using one or more of the following approaches:
- radiation-MHD simulations
- non-LTE radiative transfer modeling
- analysis of observations from the SST, IRIS and SDO
The Astronomy department of Stockholm University consists of about 14 faculty professors/lecturers, another 15 senior and postdoctoral researchers, and over 20 PhD students.
