Applications are invited for a post doctoral fellowship position with Dr. Rainer Schödel, at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (CSIC) in Granada, Spain, starting as soon as 1 April 2014. The position is related to a near-infrared high-angular resolution study of the Galactic Centre, funded by the European Research Council.
The successful candidate has a strong research background in observational astronomy and in one or more of the following fields: near-/mid-infrared imaging and spectroscopy, high-angular resolution techniques, image processing, PSF fitting astrometry and photometry, high precision astrometry and proper motion measurements, the Galactic centre, massive star clusters, galactic stellar nuclei, massive star formation.
The appointment is initially for 2 years, with a possibility for an extension of up to 5 years. The salary will be competitive and there are ample funds for travel available. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or related fields.
