The Department of Physics and Astronomy of Uppsala University is looking for a lecturer in Astronomy with specialization in Numerical Astrophysics.
The position includes teaching, research and administration. In particular, the lecturer is expected to teach astrophysics courses at all levels where the development of numerical simulations is an essential part, as well as basic physics courses. Research at the division combines the continuous development of both advanced instrumentation and astrophysical numerical models, and it is expected that the holder of the position will contribute to the integration of theoretical and observational activities.
To qualify for the position candidates must demonstrate teaching expertise, corresponding pedagogical training and have a PhD in astronomy or other relevant fields. The holder is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within two years of employment.
The ranking of eligible applicants will be based primarily on research and teaching expertise, which will be given equal importance.
In assessing research expertise special weight will be attached to achievements in the development and application of dynamical models of stars and processes in their environments (e.g., convection, pulsation, dynamical atmospheres, stellar winds, proto-planetary disks and planet formation).
In assessing the teaching expertise special weight will be attached to experience in teaching of numerical methods relevant for astrophysics.
All merits must be documented in a manner that makes it possible to assess both quality and scope.
