The Department of Physics and Astronomy at UNC Chapel Hill invites applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical cosmology. The successful applicant will work with Professor Adrienne Erickcek on topics related to dark matter, dark energy, and the early Universe, with a particular focus on dark matter substructure. Candidates who have experience with cosmological simulations are especially encouraged to apply.
In addition, the postdoctoral scholar will be encouraged to pursue an independent research program. Research funds for conference attendance and other professional expenses will be provided. The postdoctoral scholar will also have access to UNC's computational resources, including the 9500-core KillDevil cluster.
The preferred start date is July 1, 2014, and candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics or astrophysics by Fall 2014. The initial appointment will be for two years and may be extended depending on satisfactory performance and availablity of funding.
