SRON's mission is to bring about breakthroughs in international space research. The institute develops pioneering technology and advanced space instruments, and uses them to pursue fundamental astrophysical research, Earth science and exoplanetary research.
The successful candidate should have an excellent track record in the field of nearby galaxies and/or galaxy formation and evolution. She/he has extensive experience with mid and far-infrared observations and/or instrumentation. The candidate is expected to acquire external funding for her/his research program, and can benefit from the already existing (far-)infrared community within the Kapteyn Institute and SRON. The candidate will have a strong involvement in the SPICA science.

Employment of the (senior) scientist full-time position at SRON-Groningen is by NWO (The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research) and will be for a period of 2 years (with the possibility of an indefinite-term employment). The salary will be in accordance with the salary scales of NWO with a minimum of € 3.804,-- and a maximum of € 5.473,-- gross per month on a full-time basis (highly depending on education and experience).
