The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC, Tenerife, Spain) invites applications for ONE postdoctoral fellowship on “EXOPLANETS AND MINOR OBJECTS OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM”,within the framework of the Severo Ochoa Programme; a prestigious recognition awarded to the IAC in 2012 as a leading research institute in Spain.
The successful candidate will be based at the IAC's headquarters in La Laguna, in a stimulating work environment. He or she will be expected to join one or more of the IAC's research groups to pursue fully independent research.
Profile: Excellent record in studies on exoplanets and/or Solar System minor bodies.
Tasks: The goal of this contract is research into exoplanet systems and/or minor bodies of the Solar System, within one or both of these specific tasks:
• Studies of the physical properties of minor bodies of the Solar System;
• The observational characterization of exoplanet systems (of their planets and/or their central stars).
The successful candidate will be based at the IAC's headquarters in La Laguna, in a stimulating and keen working environment, with access to all telescopic and supercomputing facilities in the Canary Islands.
Doctorate: The candidate must hold a PhD in Astrophysics by the submission deadline (31st July 2014).
Remuneration: The gross annual salary is 32.886 €. The position includes a minimum of 2000 Euros for travel (conferences, workshops, observing runs, collaboration stays, etc.)
Duration: One year, starting during the last trimester of 2014.
