The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC, Tenerife, Spain) invites applications for ONE postdoctoral contract on “The Formation of Planetary Nebulae: the Binary Hipothesis” (AYA2012-35330). The IAC has been selected as a “Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence” in research by the Spanish Government. a prestigious recognition awarded to the IAC in 2012 as a leading research institute in Spain.
Duties: The successful candidate will work as a postdoctoral researcher within the framework of the abovementioned project, which deals with the formation and evolution of planetary nebulae and related objects. In particular, the successful candidate is invited to join the IAC research group led by Dr. Corradi to study planetary nebulae with binary central stars, covering any of the related aspects.
Qualifications, knowledge and skills: Observaional or theoretical expertise in any aspect related to the abovementioned research topic will be highly considered.
The successful candidate will be based at the IAC's headquarters in La Laguna, in a stimulating and keen working environment, with access to all telescopic and supercomputing facilities in the Canary Islands.
Doctorate: The candidate must hold a PhD in Astrophysics by the submission deadline (31st July 2014).
Remuneration: The gross annual salary is 32.886 €.
Duration: 15 months, starting during the last trimester 2014. Finalization of the contract will in any case be by 31st December 2015.
