Member universities of the Association of Canadian Universities for Research in Astronomy (ACURA) welcome inquiries about the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships.
ACURA is an organization of twenty Canadian universities dedicated to the advancement of research in astronomy and astrophysics in Canada.
The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program provides funding to the very best postdoctoral applicants, both Canadian and foreign citizens, who will contribute positively to Canada's economic, social and research‑based growth.
The Fellowships are for 2 years (non-renewable) at $70,000 per year (taxable). Applicants for the 2014-15 competition must obtain or have obtained a PhD from September 24, 2011 through August 15, 2015 (with childrearing or health exceptions). Fellowships must start between April and October 2015, inclusive.
The objective of the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program is to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral fellows, develop their leadership potential, and position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow. The program is unique in its emphasis on the synergy between the applicant's individual merit and potential to launch a successful research-intensive career and the host institution's strategic priorities and commitment to the applicant's research program.
Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship applications must be completed in full collaboration with the proposed host institution. The deadline for full applications is Sept. 24, 2014, but institutional deadlines can be more than a month earlier. Interested parties are urged to contact astronomers at potential host institutions as soon as possible and to read the full eligibility details of the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program at the website given below.
