A postdoctoral research position is available in the SPI/Integral team at the
Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planetologie (IRAP), Toulouse, France.
SPI is the germanium spectrometer (20 keV-8 MeV) aboard Integral Observatory.
The position is devoted to the data reduction and scientific analysis of compact objects observed by SPI. Experience with high energy instruments (> 10 keV) or ability in data reduction algorithm development will be strongly appreciated.
The successful applicant will be involved in a common effort to develop/improve specific tools for SPI analysis, e.g. spectral and timing data analysis, data base interfaces, catalog generation... The other part of the work (~ 50%) will be devoted to the scientific analysis of selected topics e.g. pulsars, X-ray binaries, extragalactic sources, polarization, gamma-ray line study...
The appointment will be made for an initial period of one year with the possibility for an extension, contingent on performance and funding. The starting date could be immediate.
Applicants should send a cover letter with a curriculum vitae, publication record, and description of research interests / experience and provide names of at least two referees willing to write letters of recommendation to the below addresses:
