The American Astronomical Society (AAS) is seeking to hire a Director of Publishing. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 10 years of experience in scholarly publishing management. Because the Society's publishing activities are distributed, the position may be filled by someone working remotely, at the discretion of the Executive Officer and under certain constraints (e.g. requirements for travel etc.).

The Director of Publishing is Responsible for managing the AAS publishing activities in cooperation with the journal editors, publications board and Society leadership. The Society currently publishes the Astrophysical Journal Parts I and II, Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, Astronomical Journal and Bulletin of the AAS, and is establishing an eBooks program and may establish other publishing activities over time.
