The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Clemson University seeks candidates to fill a faculty position in astrophysics at the tenure-track Assistant Professor or higher level to begin August 15, 2017. Our department currently has strong research efforts in the areas of high-energy astrophysics, nucleosynthesis, stellar abundances, and star & planet formation. We are considering applications from all areas of astrophysics in observation, theory, or big data and seek someone that can complement and enhance the research activities of the department. The Department of Physics and Astronomy boasts a collegial, collaborative environment committed to broadening participation in Physics & Astronomy.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous externally funded research program and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Required qualifications include a PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or closely related field. Interest in overseeing our planetarium and undergraduate astronomy labs as part of their teaching load is also welcome. The candidate should exhibit a record of substantive research and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
