The T. D. Lee Institute in Shanghai, China (http://leeinst.sjtu.edu.cn) invites applications for T. D. Lee postdoctoral research fellow positions in the areas of Cosmology, Galaxy Formation and Evolution, Exoplanets, and Gravitational Waves. We welcome highly motivated applicants who have obtained a Ph.D. degree or who are expecting one prior to starting the position, in astrophysics or a related field. The initial appointment is for 2 years with possible renewal up to 5 years. We offer an annual salary of 300k RMB (~45k USD) and subsidized housing options through the co-sponsor Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).
The appointee can choose to work on the frontiers of the above research fields both in theories and in observations. The astrophysics sector of the T.D. Lee Institute is closely working with the Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (CAA) of SJTU. T.D. Lee Institute is an official participating member of the Prime Focus Spectrograph (PFS) project at the Subaru telescope which will carry out massive spectroscopic surveys of galaxies at redshift z=1-3 and of stars to the edge of Milky Way and in M31. The postdocs can get access to the PFS data that is expected to be available from 2018. With CAA, T.D. Lee Institute is also involved in several international observational projects and in advanced cosmological simulations (see http://astro.sjtu.edu.cn)
The T. D. Lee Institute is a newly established prestigious national research institute in China, supporting cutting edge fundamental research in astrophysics, high energy physics, and quantum physics. English is the working language at the institute. For full consideration, applicants should submit before December 15, 2016, a CV, a brief research statement, and a list of publications to Prof. Yipeng Jing at [email protected]. Three letters of recommendation should be forwarded to the same address before the deadline.
