The Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (CAA) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), one of the top universities in China, is gearing to become a center of excellence in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Comprising 10 faculty members and a fast growing group of postdocs, the research team is very diverse and international, spanning across theoretical, numerical, and observational frontiers of galaxy formation and cosmology. More information can be found at http://astro.sjtu.edu.cn/.
The CAA is seeking 2 postdoctoral positions on CMB. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Le Zhang on projects related to CMB foreground removal for B-modes detection. The candidate's primary responsibility will be concerned with the ability to separate the primordial CMB B-mode signal from the Galactic emission. This will include the characterisation of the physical and statistical properties of foreground components and the development of blind and non-blind algorithms to remove foreground emissions from the CMB data. The program is intimately connected to the Ali CMB experiment located at Tibet of China, which will be the first ground-based CMB experiment in the northern hemisphere of the Earth. Candidates should have experience in CMB data analysis with particular emphasis on Galactic astrophysical foregrounds and component separation techniques. Strong computational skills are desirable.
Applicants should send a CV and arrange for three recommendation letters to be sent to [email protected] by December 30 2016.
Comprehensive medical insurance and travel allowance comes with this position.
