The Astronomy Department at Indiana University invites applications from qualified individuals for a Visiting Assistant Professor position, starting in Fall 2017. This is a two-year position. Applicant should have a PhD or equivalent in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or Physics. Previous teaching experience is strongly preferred but not a requirement. Our department offers BS, BA, and PhD degree programs, as well as a variety of introductory courses for non-majors. The teaching responsibility in this position is two courses per semester, and can consist of offerings at any level in our curriculum. The search is open to applicants from any area of astronomy or astrophysics; we are particularly interested in candidates whose research complements and enhances current department strengths and who are committed to effective classroom teaching. The successful candidate will be encouraged to participate fully in the scholarly life of the department and will have access to all available research facilities.
