The Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa (SNS) invites expressions of interest for a two-year fellowship from brilliant researchers with strong background in Physics or Chemistry. Historically, physics at SNS has had a strong effort in particle theory and high-energy experiments. More recently, an active and growing cosmology and astrophysics research area has been established.
The successful candidate will work in the group led by Prof. Andrea Ferrara. Considerable in-house high performance computing/data analysis resources, including GPU cards and an innovative 3D visualization system, will be available to the appointed researcher.
The research areas for the search include: theoretical cosmology, with emphasis on computation, simulation and data mining; experimental astrophysics, with emphasis on first stars, cosmic reionization and gamma-ray bursts; theoretical particle physics as related to understanding dark matter and dark energy. We seek candidates with significant accomplishments and promise for further achievement in the above fields. We invite also applications from candidates with additional interdisciplinary background in areas related to research in Astrobiology.
The expressions of interest should arrive not later than October 17, 2011 to the Director of the SNS, using the forms available at the following URL: http://www.sns.it/en/borse/asscon/assegnidiricerca/assegno325/. The URL contains also additional information about the position. All inquiries can be addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
