Job Description

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Department of Astronomy at Indiana University, Bloomington to collaborate with Professor Songhu Wang on the topic of exoplanet observation and dynamics. Both observers and theorists are encouraged to apply. Experience in transit, radial velocity or dynamical simulations will be valued assets. The successful candidate is strongly encouraged to develop their own research project within this general framework.

IU Astronomy Department has guaranteed access to the newly-installed NEID high-precision radial velocity spectrometer at the 3.5-meter WIYN telescope, along with several other smaller telescopes (including the 0.9-meter WIYN telescope). In addition, IU has excellent information technology infrastructure including: TeraGrid computing resources, supercomputer capability, and massive and rapid access data storage systems; as well as an innovative School of Informatics and Computing and an Advanced Visualization Laboratory that supports IU researchers.

The postdoctoral appointment will be for three years. Start date is expected to be August 2021 but is negotiable.

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, Planetary Science or a closely related field by the position start date.
