CHEOPS Postdoctoral position
Job Summary
Job Description
The Astrophysics Institute of the University of Liege (www.ago.ulg.ac.be) invites applications for a postdoctoral position to participate to the preparation and scientific exploitation of the CHEOPS space mission. CHEOPS (CHaracterizing ExOPlanet Satellite) is the first S-mission of ESA (European Space Agency) and is due to launch for end 2018. It is dedicated to searching for exoplanetary transits by performing ultra-high precision time-series photometry (light curves) on bright nearby stars already known to host planets.
The University of Liege is implied at two levels in the scientific program of CHEOPS: the stellar modelling of the CHEOPS target stars and the analysis of the CHEOPS light curves. The postdoctoral researcher will be implied at both levels, with V. Van Grootel (stellar modelling) and M. Gillon (transit analysis) as coordinators.
The position is available for 9 months, plus two years depending on performance evaluation. Net salary is about 2300€/month. Grants for travels and full equipment are available.
Applications should consist in a CV, a cover letter including a brief description of past research, and a publication list. Applications should be sent electronically at Valérie Van Grootel and Michaël Gillon. In addition, two reference letters should be sent directly to Valérie Van Grootel and Michaël Gillon.
