The Kapteyn Astronomical Institute of the University of Groningen invites applications for a NOVA Fellowship as part of the NOVA Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, to be taken up anytime in 2020.
The NOVA fellowship program supports outstanding postdoctoral astronomers who are working in the general field of Galactic structure, distant and nearby Galaxies, and Cosmology. The research may be observational or theoretical. The fellowship is open to applications from all nationalities. The fellowship will be tenable for three years, subject to a review during the second year. It is to be held at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute of the University of Groningen. One position is available.
NOVA fellows have freedom to pursue their own research within the programme and will be provided with generous funding for travel and computers. Candidates should have a proven record of excellence in their research.
Dutch astronomers have access to a wide range of observational as well as computational facilities, and have been leading a vigorous astronomical instrumentation programme. Dutch astronomy has been rated as an exemplary `Top Research School' by the Dutch government, and the NOVA fellowships are funded by this Excellence Scheme.
Interested candidates should seek a sponsor at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute and write a short (3-page) description of their proposed research programme. This together with a CV, publication list and a description of past and present research, concatenated into a single PDF file, should be submitted to [email protected]. Three letters of reference should also be sent to this address. Applications will be accepted until December 20, 2019.
Further information, including descriptions of the research taking place at the Kapteyn Institute may be found at the website listed below.
