Job Description

The Astroparticle and Cosmology (APC; http://apc.u-paris.fr/) laboratory of Université Paris Cité is pleased to announce up to three postdoctoral positions in the areas of galaxy formation and evolution, and cosmology. We seek candidates eager to work with us in the following areas :

1) Analysis of clusters and proto-clusters at z>1.5. The postdoctoral fellow will work with Simona Mei at the APC laboratory (https://www.linkedin.com/in/simona-mei-1721bb3a/) in collaboration with Emanuele Daddi at the AIM laboratory (https://osups.universite-paris-saclay.fr/en/unit/aim). S/he will compare the fractions of quenched and early-type galaxies and the gas content of clusters and protoclusters at z>1.5 detected with different techniques, in preparation for the exploitation of future observations with the Euclid Mission and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST).

2) Research on galaxy clusters and/or CMB cross-correlations with large-scale structure in preparation for the Euclid survey and the Rubin Observatory LSST (observational or development and analysis of simulations), to lead and/or contribute to papers for approved Euclid Key or Standard Projects with one or several of the APC Euclid member scientists. The postdoctoral fellow will work within the APC Euclid team, and will contribute to  algorithm development and operations for the photometric validation and/or for photometric redshifts and/or simulations of combined Euclid and Rubin/LSST data.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in astrophysics with a specialization in one or several of the following scientific themes: formation and evolution of galaxies, clusters of galaxies, estimation of photometric redshifts and processing and analysis of astronomical images in the visible and/or infrared, processing and/or analysis of galaxy spectra, development and/or analysis of cosmological or galaxy or galaxy cluster simulations.

The postdoctoral positions will be offered for 1 year, renewable, with a nominal start date after April 1st 2023 and before December 31st 2023.

Candidates should send their application with the following elements to Simona Mei and James Bartlett:

- Statement of research interests

- CV

- Three recommendation letters sent directly to S. Mei and J.Bartlett

If you are interested to these positions, please contact us as soon as possible, and send your application before February 10th, 2023.

S. Mei will share the applications for the first position with Emanuele Daddi. Please put him in CC for all communication about this first position.
