Job Description

Position: The University of Wyoming invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Physics and Astronomy beginning August, 2022. Applicants in all fields of astronomy are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD in astronomy/physics or a closely related discipline and a minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience.

The candidate’s responsibilities will include: Establishing a strong, independent research program, including mentoring graduate and undergraduate students; publishing regularly and garnering sufficient extramural funding to maintain a research group; and teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in astronomy/physics across the curriculum.

Information and Resources: The department operates the Wyoming Infrared Observatory (WIRO) 2.3-meter telescope on Mt. Jelm, WY and a 1/16th share of  the Apache Point 3.5-meter telescope. Department faculty have access to high-performance computing facilities, including the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center.
