Job Description

The Kapteyn Astronomical Institute invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Position funded by an NWO Vici Grant led by Prof. Karina Caputi.

This Postdoctoral Position is offered for two years in the area of galaxy formation and evolution at high redshifts, and is particularly focused on the scientific exploitation of JWST data. The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Astronomy at the moment of taking the position. Previous experience in the analysis of extragalactic photometric data is expected. Being familiar with JWST data analysis is not mandatory, but will be an important criterion for selection.

The Kapteyn Astronomical Institute at the University of Groningen is world-wide recognised for the breadth and quality of its research and is one of the four Dutch astronomical departments constituting NOVA. 

The application package should be sent by email directly to Prof. Karina Caputi ([email protected]) and should include: a brief CV (2-3 pages), complete list of publications, and a short statement of research experience and future research interests (2-3 pages)  -- please send all documents in .pdf format. The applicant should arrange for three reference letters to be sent independently to the same email address. The deadline for applications is 9th April 2024. The review process will start immediately, but applications will be considered until the position is filled. The successful candidate is expected to start between July and November 2024, with the exact date being negotiable.
