The Centre for Space Research at North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa,
is seeking candidates for two postdoctoral fellowships in high-energy astrophysics.
The appointments are initially for one year, renewable up to 3 years, depending on
satisfactory performance and availability of funds. The bursary will be ZAR 292 000
per year, which will be tax-free. A Ph.D. in astronomy / astrophysics or a closely
related field is required.
The research activities of the two positions should focus on observational or
theoretical high-energy and multi-messenger astrophysics. One postdoc will work
with Prof. Markus Boettcher, with a focus on extragalactic multi-wavelength /
multi-messenger astrophysics. The other postdoc will work with Prof. Christo
Venter and Prof. Iurii Sushch on modelling of broadband pulsar emission, pulsar
wind nebulae, and supernova remnants, as well as observational / theoretical
work on pulsars and fast radio bursts (FRBs).
Applicants are requested to send a CV, publication list, summary of past research,
research plan, and contact information of at least 3 references, to Markus Boettcher
