The Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona (ICCUB) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the research group of Prof. Chervin Laporte. We are currently offering a position in computational galaxy formation and dynamics to work on the formation of the Milky Way. Candidates with strong expertise/interests in modelling non-equilibrium galactic dynamics, basis function expansion methods, dark matter (including substructure) on Galactic scales and the formation of Milky Way-like galaxies and dwarf galaxies are strongly encouraged to apply. Strong numerical skills (C/C++, MPI) would be a plus.
They will also have the opportunity to be involved in the scientific exploitation of the Gaia mission, WEAVE as well as joining the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-V) international collaborative networks and supervising students. The term of employment is for 3 years (subject to performance and availability of funds). The position is funded by an ERC starting grant and comes with special access to in-house HPC facilities and travel support. Candidates should have completed their PhD within the last six years and be in possession of their PhD degree by the starting date of employment.
