The Department of Physics at Southern Methodist University in Dallas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or tenured Associate Professor position in the broadly defined area of Theoretical Astrophysics, Cosmology and Gravitational Waves. The appointment will start in August 2019 or later. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy or closely related field.

Current research at the Department of Physics at SMU is concentrated in the fields of particle physics and astrophysics. The theory program is concentrated on the studies of CMB and Early Universe and on QCD and LHC related topics.
The current experimental program includes ATLAS at the LHC, NOvA and DUNE at Fermilab, SuperCDMS and DESI. The department is expected to have an access to the Simons Observatory. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous research program, supervise graduate students and to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
