NAOJ Postdoctoral Researcher or Project Assistant Professor (ALMA) Stationed at Waseda University

The NAOJ ALMA Project invites applications for two Project Research Staffs (postdoctoral researcher) or one Project Assistant Professor for ALMA Joint Scientific Research Program to conduct the research project “ALMA HzFINEST: High-z Far-Infrared Nebular Emission STudies” using ALMA data (including archival data). The successful candidate will spend 100% of the time for this project under the supervision of Professor Inoue at the Waseda University (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Japan). The successful candidate is required (1) to publish one (for the Project Research Staff) or two (for the Project Assistant Professor) papers per year, and (2) to submit one (for the Project Research Staff) or two (for the Project Assistant Professor) ALMA proposals per year. The successful candidate may supervise students for the purpose of carrying out this project. The successful candidate will be employed by the NAOJ, and will be stationed at Waseda University. In case the PI of the project (Professor Inoue) moves to another university or institute, the successful candidate is expected to accompany the PI. However, if such an arrangement is deemed difficult by the new university/institute, the successful candidate will be relocated to NAOJ in Mitaka and continue the proposed research project. In principle, the term is for two years from the starting date, and the starting date is April 1, 2020 or October 1, 2020. NAOJ will conduct a mid-term review of the project 1.5 years after the starting date, and the term may be extended for an additional year. In such a case, a yearly evaluation will be performed from the third year, and the contract may be extended on a yearly basis, for a total of up to five years. For a researcher who has been employed by NINS after April 1, 2013, his/her term will be set so that the total employment period from April 1, 2013 will be less than 10 years.
