We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate for 1 PhD position in particle astrophysics and machine learning at the University of Amsterdam. You will be embedded in the GRAPPA Center of excellence in Gravitation and Astroparticle Physics, a multidisciplinary team of researchers active in a variety of research topics including dark matter, compact objects, high-energy astrophysics and physics beyond the standard model.
The position is supposed to start by fall 2021.
What are you going to do?
The positions will be part of the ERC consolidator project 'UnDark - New Approaches to Uncover Dark Matter in the post-WIMP Era', under supervision of Dr Christoph Weniger. Candidates interested in searches for gravitational and non-gravitational dark matter signals in astronomical data (including axions & sterile neutrinos, and ranging from indirect searches over strong lensing image analysis to the analysis of cosmological probes like Lyman-alpha data), as well as applicants interested in dark matter phenomenology and algorithms of deep learning are invited to apply.
