Postdoctoral Researcher - Galaxy Clusters

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University seeks to hire a postdoctoral researcher working on clusters of galaxies. Work that will inform cluster cosmology with the Vera C. Rubin Observatory (www.lsst.org, www.lsst-desc.org/) is particularly encouraged. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Anja von der Linden in the Stony Brook Cosmology Group. Collaborations with nearby Brookhaven National Laboratory and/or the Center for Computational Astrophysics are possible.

Required Qualifications: Applicants should have, or be in the process of completing, a Ph.D. in astrophysics. They should have significant research experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong background in one or more of the following: analysis of large astronomical datasets; weak gravitational lensing; photometric redshift estimates; cluster cosmology; statistical inferences from astronomical data.

The position is anticipated to begin September 2021. The duration of the postdoctoral appointment is up to three years, with renewable one-year terms.
