Postdoctoral Researcher - Galaxy Clusters

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University seeks to hire a postdoctoral researcher working on clusters of galaxies. Work that will inform cluster cosmology with the Vera C. Rubin Observatory (, is particularly encouraged. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Anja von der Linden in the Stony Brook Cosmology Group. Collaborations with nearby Brookhaven National Laboratory and/or the Center for Computational Astrophysics are possible.

Required Qualifications: Applicants should have, or be in the process of completing, a Ph.D. in astrophysics. They should have significant research experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong background in one or more of the following: analysis of large astronomical datasets; weak gravitational lensing; photometric redshift estimates; cluster cosmology; statistical inferences from astronomical data.

The position is anticipated to begin September 2021. The duration of the postdoctoral appointment is up to three years, with renewable one-year terms.
