About the Job
As the OzGrav Postdoctoral Research Fellow you will perform fundamental research in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav). In addition to joining OzGrav’s headquarters which is hosted at Swinburne, these roles will also collaborate with the broader OzGrav research team at its partner nodes at other leading Universities.
We are seeking two research fellows to contribute one of more of the OzGrav Data/Astrophysics Programs (https://www.ozgrav.org/dataastro.html) including, but not limited to the below:
- to assist in the analysis of LIGO data for gravitational wave discovery or astrophysical interpretation of signals from compact binary coalescences or gravitational wave bursts using advanced computational and statistical techniques
- to assist in commissioning for the LIGO gravitational wave detectors
- to use data from pulsar timing arrays to detect the gravitational waves being generated by supermassive black hole binaries
- to use the information provided from gravitational wave observations to make astrophysical insights into the relativistic universe using either N-body simulations or binary evolution codes
About you
To be suitable for the role you will possess:
- An earned doctoral qualification in gravitational waves, astrophysics, or a closely-related field
- Advanced knowledge of high level computing languages (eg python, C, C++, cuda) in a Unix environment
- Knowledge of relativistic astrophysics, physics and General Relativity
- Demonstrated ability to write high-impact papers
