The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is a dynamic new university established only 30 years ago, but already highly ranked (66th in 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, 34th in 2022 QS World University Rankings). The University has established the Center for Fundamental Physics (CFP) with faculty members so far affiliated with HKUST (Department of Physics) and/or the IAS including Andrew Cohen, Tao Liu, Kam Biu Luk, Kirill Prokofiev, George Smoot, Henry Tye and Yi Wang.
Based on the project of "Dark Matter and the Universe" led by HKUST CFP (see http://cfp.ust.hk/crf for details), we would invite applications for a postdoctoral position effective from July 2022 (or an earlier date) in the areas of observational astrophysics and cosmology (duration: 2 years, renewable upon mutual agreement). This position is joint with Donostia International Physics Center in Spain (Tom Broadhurst). The appointee is expected to participate in JWST data analyzing, lensing modeling and/or observation simulating (mainly in collaboration with George Smoot, Jeremy Lim and Tom Broadhurst). Starting salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be also provided.
