Postdoctoral researcher in extragalactic astronomy

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher at the University
of Victoria to work with the group of Prof. Sara Ellison.  
The research conducted by this group covers several observational and 
theoretical aspects in the field of galaxy evolution, including galaxy 
mergers, quantitative morphologies, galactic gas content, chemical evolution, 
star formation and the impact of AGN.  

The successful applicant will be expected to work on topics of interest to
the research group and to develop and lead their own projects
within this framework.  Ideally, the applicant will bring complementary
skills to the group.  Expertise in galaxy simulations, observations of gas in
galaxies/ISM studies, experience with IFU surveys or kinematic modelling
are of particular interest.    The proposed research, its context with the
group's interests and complementarity of the applicant's expertise should
be clearly described in a research proposal accompanying the application.

Due to university policy, the position is initially for 2 years, with the
expectation of renewal for a third year.
