Job Description

Seeking applications for up to three postdoctoral positions in observational extragalactic astronomy at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, as part of the ERC Consolidator project "FiatLux" led by Prof. Pascal Oesch in Geneva and at the Cosmic DAWN Center in Copenhagen.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to get involved in several large JWST surveys, including the pure parallel imaging program PANORAMIC and the NIRCam/grism survey FRESCO. Additionally, the FiatLux team will exploit the upcoming wide-area facilities such as the multi-object spectrograph VLT/MOONS as well as ESA's Euclid Space Telescope. Applicants with previous research experience in early galaxy build-up and/or deep multi-wavelength observations are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualified applicants will be considered for a higher level fellowship position that includes supervision of a PhD student and can be extended up to 5 years at the level of maitre assistant (Research Fellow).

At the Department of Astronomy in Geneva, the successful candidates will find a rich and vibrant research environment in several fields of astrophysics. Additionally, the FiatLux research group members will have the opportunity to become associated members of the Cosmic DAWN Center at the University of Copenhagen.

The appointments are expected to start later in 2022 (negotiable), and require the completion of a PhD in Astrophysics, or related field.

To apply, qualified candidates are invited to send an email with a single PDF file to [email protected] containing a cover letter, a CV with full publication list, and a brief statement of research experience and future research plans. Candidates should also arrange for three letters of reference to be e-mailed independently to the same address.

Applications received by May 2 will receive full consideration.
