Applications are invited for a Hintze Fellowship in Radio Transients
The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 2 years
This project will involve the acquisition and analysis of radio data on a range of explosive and time variable astrophysical phenomena, primarily from the AMI-LA and MeerKAT radio telescopes. Targets include X-ray Binaries, Tidal Disruption Events, Gamma Ray Bursts and other jet-powered Supernova, as well as the radio counterparts of gravitational wave sources arising from merging neutron stars.
ThThe successful candidate will help to run our extensive transients and variables programme with the AMI-LA radio telescope, and will be part of a larger team with involvement in many scientific projects such as ThunderKAT on the MeerKAT radio telescope. They will be expected to be able to critically analyse results and report on them via publications and oral presentations, while working as part of a team.
Applicants should possess, or be very close to obtaining a doctorate in astrphysics or a related field.
The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach.
