Research Scientist in Cosmology and Structure Formation - Ludwig-Maximilians Universitaet (LMU-Munich)

Applications are invited for a research scientist appointment in the Cosmology and Structure Formation group of the Faculty of Physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet (LMU-Munich). The successful applicant will be expected to lead studies of cosmology and the growth of structure that rely on galaxy clusters and large scale structure. Our group is centrally involved in preparations for the eROSITA X-ray all sky survey (launch March 2019) as well as the ongoing mm-wave survey science in the South Pole Telescope (SPT-SZ, SPTpol and SPT-3G) and the weak lensing and galaxy population studies in the Dark Energy Survey. In addition to participating in these missions, the new group member will have the opportunity to become involved in the planning for Legacy Science in the Euclid mission. The successful candidate will pursue his/her own research program and will have the opportunity to work closely with PhD and Masters students as well as other postdoctoral scholars and senior scientists in the group.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics. The appointment will begin in spring 2019 or thereafter. This is a German civil service position (Beamte/ Akademischer Rat; level A13) open to all qualified individuals, regardless of nationality. German language skills are not required.
