Job Description

We are pleased to invite applications for a three-year ERC-funded postdoctoral position, with Andrew Pontzen's GMGalaxies team at University College London.  GMGalaxies is a research programme using unique simulation techniques to investigate the relationship between galaxies’ observable properties and their cosmic history.

The post-holder will perform original research in the area of computational galaxy and structure formation. They will contribute to the design, execution and analysis of cosmological simulations, including comparisons to observations and/or galactic dynamical models. The research will form part of the GMGalaxies project, requiring the post-holder to work closely with Andrew Pontzen, the broader UCL team and international collaborators. Notwithstanding these requirements, there is scope for significant independence.

Our team abides by, and contributes to development of, the N-Body-Shop code of conduct which complements UCL’s own Dignity at Work and equity policies.

This post is funded by the ERC for 3 years in the first instance. In the event of no-deal Brexit the UK government is committed to underwriting this funding. The nominal start date is 1 October 2021, although an earlier start may be possible.

Applications must be made through UCL's online system. Candidates will need to upload a CV (including a list of publications), a statement of research interests and plans (3 pages maximum), and the contact information for three references. Please arrange also for these three academic references to be sent to Andrew Pontzen ([email protected]) by the closing date.
