Two-Year Postdoctoral Position in Galaxy Evolution

The Astronomy Group in the Physical Sciences department at Andres Bello University in Santiago, Chile is offering a two-year postdoctoral position in the field of galaxy evolution funded by an ESO-Comité Mixto project led by Dr. Julie Nantais.

The researcher will have the opportunity to work on various projects related to galaxy evolution with a special focus on early-type galaxies and their immediate progenitors at all redshifts and stellar masses, from their first appearance at z ~ 4 to their ongoing formation in the local Universe, and the co-evolution of these galaxies with the clusters and rich groups in which they commonly reside. The researcher will have the opportunity to join and work with several Chilean and international collaborations including the Spitzer Adaptation of the Red-Sequence Cluster Survey (SpARCS), Gemini Origins of Galaxies in Rich Early Environments (GOGREEN), Galaxy and Large-Scale Structure Evolution (GaLSSEv), and others.

The applicant must have a PhD before March 1st, 2021. Applicants with experience in optical and NIR photometry and spectroscopy will be preferred. Applicants familiar with millimeter-wave radio or X-ray data analysis may also apply given the existence of data and experts in these areas within the collaborations. The researcher will have access to the 10% of time on Chilean telescopes reserved for affiliates of Chilean institutions and the dynamic academic environment of Santiago, Chile. Start date is negotiable but March 2021 is preferred.
