Job Description

The Centre for Space Research at North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa, is seeking outstanding candidates to fill a postdoctoral fellowship vacancy that exists in high-energy astrophysics. The appointment is initially for one year, renewable for up to 3 years, depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding. The bursary value is ZAR292 000 p.a. A Ph.D. in astronomy / astrophysics or a closely related field is required.

The research activities should focus high-energy astrophysics. The postdoc will work closely with Profs Christo Venter and Iurii Sushch on theoretical and numerical modelling of pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe) and supernova remnants (SNRs), including particle transport and acceleration as well as broadband emission from these objects.

The institutional expectations include:

Applicants are requested to send a CV, publication list, summary of past research, research plan, and a reference letter from at least 2 referees to Christo Venter ([email protected]) and/or Iurii Sushch ([email protected]) no later than 28 February 2023.
