The Argelander Institute for Astronomy (AIfA) at the University of Bonn invites applications for one or more postdoctoral positions in astrophysics and cosmology starting in the fall 2022 or any time earlier.
The successful candidate has a strong research background in one or more of the following topics:
- large-scale structure of the Universe
- galaxy redshift surveys
- numerical cosmology
- galaxy formation
- cosmic reionisation
- physics of the intergalactic medium
- machine learning in astrophysics
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to collaborate with the group led by Prof. Cristiano Porciani and conduct research related to the themes mentioned above with possible applications to Euclid, eROSITA and the Fred Young Submillimeter Telescope.
The appointment is initially for 2 years, with a possibility for further extensions and includes benefits. Salary is paid according to the German civil service scale TV-L E13.
Bonn is a pleasant city on the Rhein river. Home to the United Nations campus and other international institutions, it offers a wide cultural program. The AIfA employs over 100 scientists and its building is also home to the Max Planck Institute for Radioastronomy which hosts 100 additional researchers.
