Scientist Gamma-ray Group Tenure-Track
DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics. More than 2400 employees work at our two locations Hamburg and Zeuthen in science, technology and administration.
At its Zeuthen location, DESY has a strong focus on astroparticle physics (https://astro.desy.de). In particular, we are a lead participant in CTA (www.cta-observatory.org) and other gamma-ray telescopes.
Lead science exploitation of existing and future gamma-ray instruments Leading role in the development of instrumentation for gamma-ray astronomy
Lead contributions to institute's preparation efforts for the CTA observatory, in particular in the online and control software project ACADA
Lead role in and coordination of human machine interface software of CTA Code development and software quality assurance
Software integration and commissioning in the CTA ACADA team
Ph. D. in astronomy, astroparticle physics, or high-energy physics Experience in and excellent knowledge of high-energy astrophysics
Experience in analysis data from and/or developing instruments for large astronomical projects Excellent skills in object-oriented programming (e.g. C++, Java, Python) and scripting languages Profound experience in developing graphical user interfaces
Good knowledge of English and the willingness to learn German Experience in working in large collaborations
Willingness to participate in expert and working meetings as well as conferences abroad
