The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), part of the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian (CfA) invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellow position to work with Dr. Akos Bogdan and Dr. Ralph Kraft within the High Energy Astrophysics Division.

The successful candidate will carry out independent research and perform analysis and interpretation of new and archival X-ray observations of clusters of galaxies and Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). Candidates should have experience with the analysis of X-ray data or strong scientific interest working in this area. Candidates with experience in optical and radio wavelengths are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will join an active research group with experts in the field of AGN and galaxy clusters, including specialists on black hole feedback, galaxy evolution, and the cycle of baryons in the circumgalactic and intracluster medium. The successful candidate will have access to Chandra Guaranteed Time Observations.

This position will be for a two-year initial term, with extension for a third year dependent upon performance and the availability of funds.
