The Graduate Institute of Astronomy at National Central University (NCUIA) is hiring two postdoctoral researchers to work on projects related to Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) and our 2-meter telescope. Via an in-kind proposal, NCUIA has joined LSST and will contribute partial observing time on our 2-meter telescope to LSST related follow-up observations. This new 2-meter telescope will be installed in San Pedro Martir (Mexico), with completion date targeted in 2024. The first-light instrument(s) include a 4-band simultaneous imager, and possibly a near-infrared camera. A spectrograph is currently planned as the next generation instrument. Besides the new 2-meter telescope, NCUIA also owns and operates the Lulin One-meter Telescope (LOT) at Lulin Observatory, located in Taiwan. Successful candidates will mainly working on LSST related science and activities (time-domain and/or variable stars science are preferred but not required), and technical tasks related to the 2-meter telescopes and LOT (including on-site observations). Besides LSST, NCUIA has participated in several time-domain surveys, such as ZTF, EDEN, TAOS2, YSE, and HSC Survey. The successful candidates will have the data access right to these surveys.
Duration of the positions is 3+1 year, the +1 year will depend on the performance of the candidates. Tentative starting date for the positions is 01 August 2022, but negotiable.
