FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in astronomy and astrophysics. We are looking for someone to complement the Department’s research strengths in gravitational lensing, active galactic nuclei, time-domain astrophysics, and who shares our active interest in upcoming large surveys. An important part of this position is to aid in the development of an undergraduate concentration in computational astrophysics, and so applicants should have a demonstrated strength in modern computational methods. The successful candidate will lead an independent research program involving undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers, for which they will be expected to seek external funding. The position requires the teaching of a minimum of one course in physics and/or astronomy per semester, and participation in committee and institutional service at the departmental and university levels will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS - A PhD in physics, astronomy, or a related discipline is required, and the successful candidate must have an established record of research excellence. Preference is given to those with undergraduate teaching and mentoring experience.
