Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in computational high-energy astrophysics.
Appointments are for a term of two years, starting 1 January, 2018, or some other date to be agreed upon.
The successful candidate will work on development of methods to include radiative processes into kinetic codes and their applications in the area of high-energy astrophysics that include black holes of all scales, neutron stars, supernovae and gamma-ray bursts.
The appointee will be located at Nordita, Stockholm. The contract follows the stipend rules at Nordita.
Candidates applying for the position should have a PhD in physics or astronomy or a related field and a proven record of scientific research in theoretical/computational high-energy astrophysics. Experience with MHD, particle-in-cell and Monte-Carlo methods will be considered as a plus.
The deadline for applications is 30 November, 2017.
Only online applications will be accepted. The application procedure and a full description of the position and the requirements is posted on academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/9981.
For further information on the position, please contact Dr. Alexandra Veledina ([email protected]).
Nordita is jointly hosted by Stockholm University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Research at Nordita covers a wide range of modern theoretical physics including astrophysics, biological physics, condensed matter physics, gravitation, cosmology and astroparticle physics, high-energy physics, and statistical physics/complex systems.
