The Department of Electrical Engineering, Universidad de Chile, invites outstanding candidates to apply for a full-time faculty position in Instrumentation, with preference being given to the area of Astronomical Instrumentation. Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. degree and be able to demonstrate excellence in independent research and teaching.
Experience is required in project leadership and/or participation and teaching in areas related to instrumentation and electromagnetism, with experience in astronomical instrumentation being viewed favourably.
Preferred research expertise includes, but is not limited to, detectors, mixers, optics and photonics, spectrometers and correlators, antennas, high frequency analog and digital electronics, micro-fabrication and the development of heterodyne detection technology within the microwave and infra-red ranges. The department has two highly equiped laboratories dedicated to astronomical instrumentation.
High quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, primarily at the Department of Electrical Engineering, and collaborative research are mandatory. Willingness to perform additional duties, including knowledge transfer, outreach, and university administrative tasks, will be considered positively.
