SkuTek Instrumentation has an opening for an Research Engineer to help develop instruments for scientific research and education. The instruments consist of analog-to-digital converters (ADC), field programmable gate arrays (FPGA), and embedded processors. The position is appropriate for an engineer or engineering-inclined physicist with experience in VHDL, Verilog, FPGA architecture, and low level embedded programming. Experience with board design (both schematic and layout), soldering, and troubleshooting will be a plus. Work will involve partnership with research community at National Labs and universities.

The successful candidate will be expected to quickly and efficiently join the ongoing company's projects and quickly learn the techniques essential to perform the duties listed below.

Technical R&D Duties:

  • Develop FPGA firmware using VHDL and Verilog (Spartan-6, Artix-7, Kintex-7).
  • Interface embedded processors with firmware and hardware.
  • Develop efficient software for embedded Linux.
  • Develop Real Time software for embedded processors.
  • Develop instrument boards (schematics and PCB layout).
  • Troubleshoot instrument boards (analog and digital).
