Job Announcement Text:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher at Montana State University to work with the group of Prof. Amy Reines. The research conducted by this group is focused on massive black holes in dwarf galaxies and the origin of black hole "seeds." More generally, we are interested in AGNs, extragalactic star formation, the evolution of galaxies and their massive black holes, as well as gravitational waves and multimessenger astrophysics. We currently utilize large astronomical surveys as well as dedicated observations spanning radio to X-ray wavelengths. As part of the eXtreme Gravity Institute (www.montana.edu/xgi/) at Montana State University, we also have in-house expertise in gravitational wave theory and analysis. Additionally, group members have access to the University’s Hyalite Research Computing Cluster (http://www.montana.edu/uit/rci/hyalite/).

The successful applicant will be expected to work on topics of interest within this broad framework and work collaboratively with the group. They will develop and lead their own observational and/or theoretical projects, as well as have the opportunity to help mentor students.

The appointment, starting Fall 2021 or earlier, is for a period of three years contingent on performance.  Applicants should submit a cover letter, a 3-page statement of research experience and future plans, a CV, and 3 confidential letters of reference by Dec. 1, 2020. For complete job announcement and application procedures, see https://jobs.montana.edu/postings/21934.
